Industry leader who first advocated cultivating Eucommia rubber as a national strategic emerging industry

Story

Fan Rende long served as President of the China Rubber Industry Association. Around 2010, he acutely recognized the strategic risk of China's dependence on imported natural rubber exceeding 80%, and at the World Rubber Annual Conference in March that year publicly proposed 'standing at the height of the long-term sustainable development of the world rubber industry to promote the development of emerging natural rubber industries such as Eucommia rubber'—a key starting point for Eucommia rubber's elevation to a national strategic issue.

Thereafter he used the association as a platform for sustained promotion: in December 2010 the China Rubber Industry Association established the Eucommia Industry Promotion Working Committee; in 2011 the Eucommia Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance was founded with him as chairman; he organized the China Eucommia Industry Development Summit Forum year after year; and he visited major production areas such as Tongren, Guizhou, to investigate Eucommia cultivation and rubber extraction enterprises, building a nationwide collaborative network for the Eucommia industry's transition from research to industrialization.

• In December 2010, promoted the establishment of the Eucommia Industry Promotion Working Committee under the China Rubber Industry Association
