薛兆弘是中国科学院化学研究所杜仲胶研究组的核心成员，早在1990年即与严瑞芳、杨道安等共同发明杜仲胶综合提取方法，该法保留前期发酵、蒸煮工序，后期采用溶剂提取粗胶与净化相结合，可防止细胶流失、降低成本，为杜仲胶规模化提取奠定工艺基础。

Story
Xue Zhaohong is a core member of the Eucommia rubber research group at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As early as 1990, he co-invented with Yan Ruifang, Yang Dao'an and others the comprehensive extraction method for Eucommia rubber, which retains the early fermentation and steaming steps while combining solvent extraction of crude rubber with purification in the later stage, preventing fine-rubber loss and reducing costs - laying the process foundation for large-scale Eucommia rubber extraction.
In 2011, as corresponding author, he published a thematic review on Eucommia rubber in Acta Polymerica Sinica, comprehensively summarizing research on extraction methods, molecular structure, biosynthesis mechanisms, crystallization behavior and dynamic mechanical properties. It systematically presented the team's internationally leading results on the three-stage vulcanization of Eucommia rubber and the critical transition to elasticity, and has been widely cited in the field.
