Committee member and expert who supported the geographical indication for 'Cili Eucommia' and promoted dwarfing cultivation technology

Story

Tian Chunlian is a professor at Jishou University, a member of the Zhangjiajie Municipal CPPCC, and a Hunan Provincial science and technology commissioner. She has long worked among the Eucommia forests of more than 10 townships in Cili County, establishing a Eucommia germplasm evaluation system and selecting superior germplasm. She was a key technical supporter of the 2020 approval of 'Cili Eucommia' as a national geographical indication protected agro-product.

She led her team in achieving a breakthrough in Eucommia high-forest dwarfing technology and establishing fast-growing, high-yield demonstration bases focused on leaf harvesting. The technology was extended to 4,737 mu across 8 townships in Cili, creating employment for over 800 people and generating nearly RMB 139 million in new output value over 3 years. As a CPPCC member, she also submitted proposals on steadily developing the Eucommia industry and strengthening germplasm resource protection, achieving dual progress in research and public service.
