Published a monograph on Eucommia in 1933, systematically summarizing its introduction and rubber production in the Soviet Caucasus.
Znamensky was a front-line scholar of the USSR's Eucommia rubber development in the 1930s. With no tropical colonies and rubber blockaded, the Soviet Union designated Eucommia—the only tree able to yield gutta-percha in temperate zones—a strategic resource, planting it on a large scale along the Black Sea coast and in the North Caucasus from 1931. His monograph published in Sukhumi in 1933 is a direct documentary witness to this history.
The book, now held by the Abkhazian Internet Library and accessible online, is still cited as a core reference by post-2005 Russian doctoral dissertations in agricultural science (such as Trili's dissertation on Eucommia introduction in the northwest Caucasus), attesting to its foundational place in the Russian-language history of Eucommia research.
