事迹
张卫东教授是我国中药化学与天然药物研究领域知名学者，曾任海军军医大学药学院院长，后任中国医学科学院药用植物研究所执行所长。2019年中国中药协会杜仲专业委员会在江西吉安成立，他当选首届主任委员，成为杜仲中药学术共同体的组织核心。
他多次在杜仲产业重大会议上作学术报告，从补肾中药现代科学发现的角度阐释杜仲的药效物质基础，并率杜仲专委会专家团队与日本杜仲研究会开展国际学术交流，推动杜仲降压、强筋骨功效的国际化表达。

Story
Professor Zhang Weidong is a renowned Chinese scholar in TCM chemistry and natural medicine research. He formerly served as Dean of the School of Pharmacy at Naval Medical University and later as Executive Director of the Institute of Medicinal Plant Development, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. When the Eucommia Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine was founded in Ji'an, Jiangxi, in 2019, he was elected its first chairman, becoming the organizational core of the Eucommia TCM academic community.
He has given academic reports at major Eucommia industry conferences on multiple occasions, interpreting the pharmacodynamic material basis of Eucommia from the perspective of modern scientific discoveries on kidney-tonifying medicines, and led expert delegations of the committee in international academic exchanges with the Japan Eucommia Research Association, promoting the international articulation of Eucommia's antihypertensive and sinew-and-bone-strengthening effects.
Milestones
- Presided over the founding conference of the Eucommia Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the China Eucommia TCM Industry Innovation and Development Forum in Ji'an, Jiangxi, in March 2019, attended by over 400 experts
- Visited Jiangxi Puzheng Pharmaceutical with Academicians Hou Huimin and Huang Luqi in October 2017 to investigate top-level design for major TCM varieties
- Gave an academic report at the 4th China Eucommia Conference in May 2023
